FIBA Basketball World Cup: DAY 2

After Day 1 on FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019, Day 2 shows a fantastic games. We will show you a short overview of all matches played this day, and highlights from them.

Canada played a great game in the first match this day, but a great Dellavedova with 24 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists led Australia to win on this match with 108-92. From the losing team, also amazing performance showed Birch with fantastic FG 7/8 for 2 points.

Thanks to a 12-28 run in the third quarter, Brazil earned a double-digit lead (62-78) and cruised to the victory over New Zealand (94-102). Leandro Barbosa was the top scorer of the winners, with a game-high 22 points. From the New Zealand top scorer was Webster with 19 points 6 assists and 6 rebounds.

Maybe the most interesting game on Day 2 was played by Dominican Republic versus Jordan. Ahmad Al Dwairi posted a monstrous double-double for the losing squad with 34 points and 10 rebounds. From the winners top scorer was Liz with 15 points.

Turkey played excellent on both ends and started its Basketball World Cup campaing with a comfortable win over Japan (86-67). Ersan Ilyasova led the way for the winners, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. From the Japan the best scorer was Hachimura with 15 points.

Lithuania dominated their first match on this World Cup against Senegal. They won with fantastic result (101-47). From winning team Sabonis, Valanciunas and Kalnietis scored 13 points. Its interesting because seven players of Lithuania scored 10+ points, while from Senegal no one scored 10+ points.

Playing excellent defence in the first half and conceding just 16 points (42-16), Greece decimated Montenegro in its opening game in the tournament (85-60). Giorgos Printezis from Olympiacos had a game-high 16 points for the winners. From Montenegro NBA star Nikola Vucevic scored only 12 points.

Team USA took over from the second quarter onwards and dominated the Czech Republic (67-88). Donovan Mitchell had 16 points for the winners, similarly to him Tomas Satoransky played fantastic offensive and defensive game, and for 28 minutes he scored 17 points and 5 assists.

The last game was the European derby Germany versus France. That was maybe the most interesting game to watch on day 2 this World Cup. France survive Germany in a late thriller match with result (78-74). Fournier showed fantastic game with double-double 26 points and 10 rebounds, also from the losing team Voigtmann was amazing with 25 points, which were not enough to win. Another player from Germany who shows great game was Schroder who also scored 23 points, with 8 assists and 4 rebounds.
