Landwasser Viaduct Bridge

The six monumental arches of the Landwasser Viaduct Bridge, curve sixty-five meters high above the Landwasser river. Not to mention that this Viaduct has been made two hundred years ago, also makes this place a must-see when traveling in the Swiss. However, the Viaduct has been defied  as an incomparable feat of engineering and architecture which needs to be seen to be appreciated. Ride over them on the Glacier Express by jumping on at Chur Station, in the direction of St Moritz. See if you’re brave enough to look down before disembarking in Filisur.

Despite the cold weather, the Landwasser Viaduct is stunning always. However the best time to visit it is during the summer, so you can take clear pictures of the Glacier Express going over it. In fact, there’s a view point at ground level which is reachable from a car park nearby and a trail you can hike along from Filisur Station.


Despite the many famous mountains in Switzerland, the Matterhorn in Switzerland is one of the latter. As a matter of fact, Matterhorn is considered as a monument for pro climbers trying to conquer it. With more than four half thousand meters plus high from its base to the summit, Matterhorn stands out.

While you might not be contemplating climbing the Matterhorn, scale some heights by taking a ride in Europe’s highest cable car to view all thirty-eight alpine mountains and get a closer look at what makes the Matterhorn so memorable.

Skiing in the summer? That’s not a bad idea, when you’re in Switzerland. The snow in the summer makes it possible to ski Matterhorn, or trekking round the base of the Matterhorn.

Mount Pilatus

The stunning scenery made for a holy wood movie, the story telling views are all-in-on at Mount Pilatus. All folklore, myths and legends have originated somewhere and this mountain in Switzerland is well known for inspiring more than a few. In fact, this mountain has it’s reputation of dragon inhibition. However, no dragons have been spotted recently, it does have the world’s steepest cog railway which you can ride on to get to the top. Something like a roller-coaster ride. 

The snow on this mountain makes it hard for visitor, so the best time to visit is between April and October. There are several hikes of varying difficulty around Mount Pilatus, but make sure you go with a professional guide if you’re considering doing the trickier ones.

Old Town Bern

Have you ever wanted to go back in time for maybe hundred years, and see how it was then? If you have, you really should put Old Town Bern on your list of places to visit in Switzerland. A time machine isn’t necessary either. The old town settles in the heart of Switzerland’s capital city, Bern, cut-off from reality by river Aare. In fact, it is perfect for experiencing first hand just what life might have been like in the twelfth century. However, the modern part of Bern is across the river.

The carnival time is a must for visiting, with the dates varying between the end of February or the beginning of March. With bears roaming the streets with other carnival revelers, to prisoners playing the trumpets. But don’t worry, these bears aren’t actually real. In fact, they are people in bear costumes.

Ruinaulta, Switzerland’s Grand Canyon

The rugged landscape is famous for Ruinaulta, Rhine Gorge or Switzerland’s Grand Canyon. Trekking in the canyon, rafting on the flow of the Rhine river, or even you could go pan for golden nuggets on the shore. This place is full of adventures and things you could do.

Because of it’s low temperatures from October till March, it’s preferable to go there during the summer. There also a train running through the canyon.
