MVP Antetokounmpo and Greece fall to USA at World Cup

Team of USA defeated Greece 69-53 in a low-scoring game, in which the defense played the leading role. The game started off fairly evenly, and after the first quarter the Americans had only two points advantage (19-17). The second period was the key in the competition. Greg Popovich’s defense tightened the defense, allowing the Greeks to score just eight points, going into halftime with a 38-38 lead.

In the third quarter, both sides again dominated the defense, a game in which the Americans improved, adding four more points to their advantage (54-37). The last period was played in egal, for the final victory of the Americans 69-53. Team USA secured quarterfinals, though they have another match in two days against Brazil.

Kemba Walker scored 15 points in the United States, and Mitchell scored 10 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo was the best in the Greeks with 15 points and Sloukas scored 13 points.
