Nadal won the 19th Grand Slam title in New York

Rafael Nadal won his 19th Grand Slam title by triumphing in one of the “Flushing Meadows” top finals and after only five sets to crush the bravery of brave Danil Medvedev. Although leading 2-0 in sets (7-5,6-3), Nadal had to play a decisive set as Medvedev did not give up and won the third and fourth sets 7-5 and 6-4, followed by the fifth set drama in which the second tennis player in the world was more successful 6-4.

Nadal recorded the win in four hours and 50 minutes, just four minutes shorter than the longest final in US Open history. For him, this is the fourth title in New York, previously celebrated at the same grand slam in 2010, 2013 and 2017.

With this triumph Nadal comes to just one grand slam title less than big rival Roger Federer, escaping plus three to Novak Djokovic.

The Spaniard reacted to his success very emotionally, laying on the ground and in tears experiencing euphoria over the great victory that confirmed his fighting spirit.

“This was one of the most emotional nights in my tennis career. It was an incredible final and a crazy match.” Nadal said after the win.

Nadal: For me tennis is much more than Federer’s record

After this win Nadal has only one grand slam behind record-holder Roger Federer, but he says that will never be his priority.

“Maybe I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to have more grand trophies than Federer, but that’s not my priority, much less an obsession. I don’t train, I don’t play tennis because of that. I play tennis because I love this sport, for me it’s much more than Federer’s record. When I play tennis I feel happy and when I win – then I’m happy, “Nadal said.

Regular Reporter congratulate him for this title, and wish him all the best in the next tournaments.
