Pope Francis has toured the world in recent years with popemobile models such as the FIAT 500L, Dacia Logan, Skoda Rapid and Kia Soul, and now a Nissan has also been featured as a vehicle of the Roman Catholic Church.
During a visit to Mauritius Island in the Indian Ocean, Pope Francis used a modified Nissan NP300 open-platform pickup. The car was redesigned by ABC Coachworks for the Pope’s meeting with the islanders, so that the back of the pickup was upgraded with a special construction housing the papal armchair.
Stairs at popemobile are also installed on the back to facilitate the climbing of the pope to the platform. Otherwise, ABC Coachworks is known for modifying vehicles for police, firefighters and emergency services, as well as for making car bodies.
